I’m thankful to God for giving talent to authors who create wonderful worlds with their words. Reading fiction has always saved me from my thoughts, given me mini breaks or escape from reality. I am always grateful for the many fictional worlds I’ve visited throughout my life!
It’s like watching a good movie, but reading for me, would last for weeks, or days, depending on my reading pace!
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic (March-May 2020), I’ve read the most books ever since graduating from college at 2011. Medical school happened so I wasn’t able to read as much. But since the world halted during those months, the clinic I worked with closed for a while, I was able to read and finish some of the books I’ve purchased maybe 2-3 years before! hahahaha
Since I have more time now, I promise myself to read 10-20 books this 2023! I have not bought a single book this year too. I just started with the pile of unread books I’ve collected for the past 5 years! π
After finishing Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, I continued my escapade with How To Stop Time by Matt Haig. It was a good book, but I liked The Midnight Library better. The Midnight Library I started reading after I ended my residency training, which was very fitting for my situation back then, about the other lives not lived. How To Stop Time, I read because my relationship at that time was rocky.
Today, I’m reading Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel. So far, it’s an okay book. I’ve read from goodreads that it’s like a copy of Cloud Atlas, which is one of my favorite movies — but haven’t read my copy yet. Well, hopefully I get to read Cloud Atlas soon too! I know I’ve started with the book before, but got bored eventually with it.
Here’s to reading books and living!
